The "EMG on DVD Series" contains four volumes. Together they offer 35+ hours of instruction that is suitable for beginners as well as experienced Electromyographers.

The first volume " Electronic Myoanatomic Atlas for Clinical Electromyography " demonstrates muscle localization and activation to conduct a needle EMG examination. The principles are demonstrated via videos for 52 commonly tested muscles. In addition, the DVD contains anatomic data (e.g. root, insertion, etc), high quality static images, and a "ready to print" text book with useful tips for a busy clinical EMG laboratory. The videos provide a better perspective of muscle anatomy than two dimensional images. As the editor describes "If a picture is worth 1000 words, a video is worth millions ".

The second volume "Electronic Atlas of Electromyographic Waveforms" is devoted to needle EMG recordings. It contains 4 sections: Instrumentation, Insertional & Spontaneous Activity, Motor Unit Action Potential Analysis, and Interference Pattern / Recruitment. Each topic begins with a detailed lecture that describes physiology, pathology, waveform recognition & characterization, methods for capturing the potential, interpretation, and reporting. The methods include those used in the routine EMG examination, as well as sophisticated quantitative analysis. In the workshops, you will see the authors demonstrate the techniques using signals recorded in normal subjects, and in patients with a variety of neuromuscular diseases. The electronic technology will give you the feeling as if you are in a real laboratory with a real patient studied with a real instrument as the authors systematically teach EMG signal analysis. Finally, you will be able to take quizzes that simulate "Board Examinations". Hints are provided to guide the student to arrive at the correct answer. In this second edition, you will find 59 lectures, analysis of 227 signals in workshops, and 11 quizzes with 152 questions! Overall it offers you 300+ recordings for assessment. You can review them 'frame by frame', as if examining them on a real electromyograph. You can insert the videos in your PowerPoint presentations too.

The third volume "Sensory Nerve Conduction Studies & Pitfalls" is available on 1 DVD. The sensory conduction studies are considered somewhat difficult due to the small amplitude of the signal recorded from these nerves. The problem may be compounded by a poor technique. The goal of this tutorial is to teach a good technique to give reliable and reproducible results. The emphasis is on electrode placement, improving signal quality and minimizing technical artifacts. This will give the clinician/technologist more confidence in assessment of the sensory nerve conduction studies.

Ideal for residents and junior staff in the laboratory, the experienced electromyographer will also find many topics of interest (e.g. "Quantitative Analysis", "Correlation to Muscle Biopsy", "Adding SFEMG", etc). Those getting ready for the "Board Examinations" will find it very useful, especially with the twelve quizzes on waveform recognition. Call it a "Virtual Reality EMG Course" with many benefits. You study at your leisure. You command the lectures and workshops at your wish. Repeat the course as many times as you desire! No missed airplanes, sold out hotels and other inconveniences.

The DVD technology makes it very easy to access the desired material. All you need is a multi-media personal computer with Windows 98 or later operating system (e.g.XP, Vista), and DVD ROM. This is readily available in almost all EMG laboratories. No need to find a TV, a VCR and the remote control that is nowhere to be found. No need to rewind and fast-forward the tapes. You do not need to download any additional software to play these DVDs. We offer limited technical support in case you run into some difficulties.
